September 2007 sees the conclusion of the "Baby Bonus" operation, organized by Sogei, under the coordination of the Ministry of the Economy and Finance. This operation awarded a 1,000 euro bonus to children born in 2005, to second and later children born in 2006 and to all children adopted in those years. The bonus is part of the Finance legislation of 2006 (law no. 266/2005 art. 1, clauses 331, 332, 333, 334).

The ending of the "Baby Bonus", obviously, does not have an effect on those who have a right to the benefit. In fact, everyone who, for whatever reason, hasn't received notice will be able, from December 1, 2007, to go to the appropriate Direzioni Territoriali dell'Economia e delle Finanze (the Ministry's provincial offices), armed with the necessary documentation, for instructions on how to claim the bonus.
